Today, we're going to share a few helpful tips on how to wear animal print: primarily, how to incorporate it into your daily routine in subtle, sophisticated ways, meanwhile upscaling to bolder, wilder looks when you're looking to dominate whatever stomping grounds you call your own particular Savannah.

So let's get started.

 1. The Neutral Animal Print Look

While many would say that animal print is the focal point of the outfit, they would be right, at least in part. It is a print, after all. That very fact means that it isn't your average plain white tee. It's meant to draw attention. However, animal print may also serve as a neutral gateway for incorporating color into the outfit, or for specifically not. Either way, the options are there, and you get choose which route you wish to take.

Our Safari Cami boasts a large zebra print, which, as we all know from Kindergarten, is a print solely featuring black and white, making it the perfect base to build your outfit upon. These two popular neutrals can be added to with a poppin' red silk skirt or some satin pumps. It can be paired with navy blue skinny jeans or topped with an olive blazer. As for jewelry, silver and gold are both acceptable. Or if you prefer wild, leathery, feathery, tooth-inspired pieces, these, too, go well with the already savage nature of this outfit. 

Here, we went a different direction, the one of simple elegance. And yet, as you will notice, it starkly differs from what would ordinarily be considered neutral. It's neutral, yet bold; simple, yet sophisticated; minimalistic, yet a full, complete outfit. 2. The Office-Appropriate Animal Print Look

The Fierce Mini dress is all that the name implies. Featuring a cheetah print design in a bias cut silhouette, this silky spaghetti strap dress will be your all-time favorite. So now that everyone's present, let's get down to it, shall we?

Step 1: The Body Scrub

Not surprisingly, the first step in our 10-step beauty routine takes place during your morning shower (or if you're a shower-the-night-before kinda gal, this works for you as well). Now, we understand that when people say "beauty routine," most minds flock to the idea of facial beauty, thinking little or nothing at all about the fact that a face is only one small part (granted, a very important part) of the body. In reality, head-to-toe maintenance is essential. And if you don't believe us, take an extra moment to think about how you're going to look 50 years from now if all you ever focus on is your face. One hint: no bikinis for you, Hun.

So with that, we recommend Birdbath's Polishing Suds cleansing bar. Made with natural loofah and free of harmful chemicals, go ahead and scrub-a-dub-dub your entire body with this. Get rid of all that dead skin and watch your natural hue transform from bland to glam. (Here's a tip: give your hands a little extra care. Those are the things you touch your face with, and you want those nice and smooth.)

Step 2: The Facial Scrub

On to the face, our journey continues with a tried-and-true facial scrub to get rid of all that gunk clogging up your pores. Now, the scrub is a very important first-step for two reasons. The first is obviously to exfoliate. Fun fact: Did you know that cleansers and exfoliators containing oils are actually good for combatting the oil build-up in your pores? Well it's true. And our tested scrubs above are full of coconut, avocado, and almond oils to help eliminate oil-based impurities.

Give yourself a lovely little facial massage (but avoid the eyes because let's face it: ow); and that leads us to the second and (in our opinion) the most important part of this step: exfoliating prepares the skin to soak up all the lovely ingredients you'll be applying in the following steps. To sum up: the facial scrub is the crucial platform on which to build the rest of your routine. The result is healthier, younger-looking skin for years and years to come. Hip hip hooray!

So that leaves just one final question: Salty or Sweet? We want to recommend the scrub that fits you best, which is why we gave you options.

Step 3: The Cleanser

Shh, we know. Step 2 was a cleanser, so why are we doing this again? There is a point, we promise; and just as before, the purpose of this step is two-fold. Number 1: While Step 2 provided us with an oil-based cleansing exfoliator, we recognize that every cleanser works differently to combat different kinds of impurities. Oil combats oil, yes; but what about all those other pesky enemies like good old-fashioned dirt? Well, that's where the second cleanser comes in. In fact, most skincare regimens - take those famous Korean regimens we all revere so much - recommend a double cleansing system for this very purpose.

That brings us to our second point. We call it: the preventative measure. Products rich in anti-aging properties will not only treat your skin in the here-and-now, but they'll prepare you for the long road ahead. And luckily for you, we chose a cleanser that also works on existing fine lines and wrinkles, providing any and all skin-types with a brighter, smoother complexion.

Step 4: Facial Mask

Now that we're all squeaky clean, it's time for the deep saturation of a rejuvenative mud mask. Really let your skin marinate in this emulsified and nutrient-rich product, compliments of Bird Bath. To top it off, it's also vegan, cruelty-free, and paraben and phthalate-free. What more could anyone ask for?

More oil? Seriously? What the heck... BUT, did you know that there is such a thing as "dry" oil? It's that delightful non-oily sensation you feel when a product absorbs directly into your skin. Case in point: that's what this one does. In fact, it even helps retain your skin's natural oils while preventing the build-up of unwanted oils throughout the day.

This delightful specimen you see before you is one of Bell & Beast Organics' geranium, frankincense, and neroli essence oils. It serves not only to preserve moisture, but to brighten the skin tone, fight acne, heal damaged spots and scars, and combat aging. We recommend using this facial oil first thing in the morning and directly before bed. And if you're still a little weary about smearing oil all over your face (dry oil though it may be), start out with target application on those areas that really need a boost, and work your way from there.

One of the most important protective and preventative measures you can take with regard to your skin. Find a serum that you can apply in the morning and at night to the under-eye area as well as the lids. Be sure to use your ring finger when applying! Trust us, the difference IS noticeable. And after having exfoliated your hands so spectacularly in Step 1, you're all set to address those delicate areas of your face with articulate care.

Step 8: The Moisturizer

After all the nutrient-rich cleansers, masks, serums, etc., it's time for the all-around facial moisturizer to seal the deal. We know you're probably asking, "Why all the layers?" But in fact, many beauty experts will tell you that the key to any regimen is not finding a one-for-all product for your skin. It's about layering up all the goodies to give you the best of everything, to help your skin breathe and adjust rather than smothering it in one thick blob of lotion. Layers also allow you to provide special attention through topical application using a myriad of products. So the end result is not a goopy mess of oils and moisturizers but a well-balanced complexion ready to go!

Step 10: The Body Moisturizer

Annnnd we're back to the visualization of a bikini 50 years from now. We hope you've got it well-ingrained into your memory.

After having given ourselves a scrub-down with our trusted body scrub, it's time to layer on that moisture to keep the skin looking fresh and luminous. Did swim season sneak up on you? Let me give you the CliffNotes: It’s a fashion free-for-all. I’m talking polka dots, one-shoulder, ruffles, high-waisted, stripes, belted, you name it. The owner, Amara, wanted to share some fun facts about how the store came to be and also some fun facts about herself! Read below to find out more, you know you want to...

1. I found the name Kariella in a book of over 500,000 baby names! It just stuck with me, I even still have the little post it I wrote it on. I think it suits my daughter (and the shop) well.
2. Kariella’s first location was in Bend Oregon, and originally started in my garage there. Its crazy to think back to those days, its been 8 years since then, time has gone by so fast!
3. For our first year in business we didn’t carry any merchandise over €100 retail. We really wanted the shop to be approachable for women of all ages and all classes of income.
4. I have an obsession with soft fabrics, I touch and feel everything before I order it for the shop and if it doesn’t feel yummy it doesn’t make the cut.
5. We do all our store build outs ourselves. There’s a lot of heart and soul that goes into each and every detail. Every brush stroke, every light fixture every piece of furniture is a little piece of me.
6. Our Ventura location came to fruition in the matter of a month. I saw the space and couldn’t say no, even though the original plan was not to open for a year out. Sometimes you gotta just go with the flow, even though it might be terrifying or not exactly what you planned. In the end it all worked out for the best.
7. Having grown up in Ojai, I knew absolutely no one when I moved to Bend, Oregon in 2010 and opened my first shop. It was a huge leap of faith!
8. I have over 20 years retail experience, some of my past experience includes buying for Angel in Montecito and Tiki Girl in Ventura. Store build outs for Nordstrom and Forever 21 and countless years of merchandising and visual display for numerous retailers both small and big. I have also designed jewelry for a high end label under their name. A few of my pieces were featured on tv shows and in magazines.
9. I really dislike having my picture taken, I know that seems crazy since I’m always modeling for the shop but I get nervous every time and I blink like a crazy person lol I feel most comfortable when Kariella takes the pictures.
10. The shop was founded on a Dream I’ve had since I was little. I knew what I wanted to do for a living at a really early age. I used to make my sister play store with me when I was 8, it was my favorite thing to do and she hated it lol She of course loves to shop from me now ;)

One of the most overlooked items when packing is your toiletries. The smallest items are always somehow forgotten.

Even if you are checking in your bag on a flight, it’s easier to buy TSA approved shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, skin care, etc. to fit in your suitcase. That way you are saving space in your bag and can easily dispose of the products after your trip. Packing minimal will keep you more organized and allows you to have more room to bring back souvenirs you’ve purchased on your vacation!

Taking a vacation or weekend getaway can be so exciting and overwhelming at the same time. You constantly look every day on your weather app to see how hot or cold it will be on your trip so you can plan out outfits for each day. You pace back and forth in your room for hours trying on different clothes and searching your favorite clothing brands for the perfect top to style with your skirt you haven’t worn since last summer.

Packing your clothes can be the most exciting part about getting ready for your trip and you may try to style yourself more than you normally would at home. However, this does not mean you need to take 15 shirts, 8 bottoms, and 6 pairs of shoes on a weekend getaway (I’m exaggerating of course). Learning to pack minimally will save you loads of stress and a lot of room in your suitcase so it’s lighter!

If you think about it, there are plenty of ways to style one simple t-shirt. So, find your way of styling a few of your favorite tops with different bottoms and vice versa! Also, something I like to call a packing hack is DRESSES! All you have to do is find the perfect sandals or heels that match with 2-3 of your favorite dresses and you’re all set. This will save you a lot of room in your suitcase so you don’t have to end up sitting on top of it to zip it up!
